Apr 17,  · A trombone gives some nice bass bottom to it. There are, to me, two stand-out tracks, "When I Was Young" and the title track "Carbeth." The latter is truly affecting and wonderful. Among the groups invoked as Trembling Bells' influences in the NYT review was Pentangle, whose "Basket of Light" album still sounds superb, start to finish/5(8).

Trembling Bells Carbeth Honest Jon's Records ‘Trembling Bells are my kind of band — the recording feels live, the sound is gloriously imperfect and they know their roots. Highly recommended’ (Joe Boyd). ‘You are not going to come across a record more gorgeous OR fist-in-the-air than this. The album has a very pastoral and bucolic feel and often remained close to the very traditional clichés of UK folk music, including a crystal-clear female voice that's much reminiscent of Denny, McShee, Gaskin, Dyble and many more, but the male vocals are sharing the spotlight as well, giving that typical duet vocal sound that typifies the genre/5(1).

Jul 16,  · Alright, no one but me is paying attention to this Glasgow music, but it just keeps coming, and it's remarkable. Today's installment: Carbeth, by Glasgow's Trembling ruddecatirleofi.forturelogelingcesitolawroce.co are elements here that will delight fans of early Fairport Convention's trad rock (count me as one of them) and Devendra Banhart's twisted psychedelic folk (not so much a fan, although I do hear moments of Missing: Summers Waning.
